Her artistic journey also includes quilting, beadwork, and crafting ash baskets—traditional skills that connect her to her ancestors.
Loretta is a renowned Mi’kmaq artist celebrated for her vibrant paintings that beautifully depict Mi’kmaq culture and traditions. Born in 1976 and raised in Waycobah First Nation, she is a self-taught artist who began her creative journey with quilting before transitioning to painting in 2013. Her works have garnered international acclaim, with pieces sold across Europe and North America. Notably, her art is featured in a permanent display at Halifax Stanfield International Airport, allowing travelers to experience the rich narratives of the Mi’kmaq people through her vivid imagery.
