Karen Beals, of Glooscap First Nation, is a Mi’kmaw artisan whose work integrates traditional quillwork, beading, and birchbark art. Her creations include medallions, jewelry, decorative pictures, quilled ornaments, earrings, and framed artworks that beautifully showcase Mi’kmaw heritage.
Karen’s work is deeply rooted in her cultural identity, incorporating research on historical Mi’kmaw designs, symbols, and petroglyphs. She takes pride in sharing the knowledge she’s gained through her craft, offering workshops on beading and quill insertion to pass these traditions on to others.
