Faye Sylliboy is the manager of Eskasoni Cultural Journeys, a cultural experience set on Goat Island in the heart of Mi’kma’ki. Deeply connected to her Mi’kmaw heritage, Faye leads her interpretive team in sharing Mi’kmaw culture, history, and traditional ways of life with visitors from near and far.
As a fluent Mi’kmaw language speaker, Faye brings stories, treaty knowledge, and historical insights to life through immersive programs that blend tradition with contemporary perspectives. From bread-making and basketry to hunting and medicine preparation, the experiences she curates highlight the enduring richness of Mi’kmaw culture.
Faye’s artistic talents shine in her crafted wooden flowers, bookmarks, and intricate beadwork, while her role as a Ko’jua dancer and drummer celebrates the vibrant traditions of Mi’kmaw performance. She also champions cultural sports and games like Waltes, engaging participants in activities that carry significant cultural meaning. Through her leadership at Eskasoni Cultural Journeys, Faye fosters meaningful connections between visitors and Mi’kmaw culture, inspiring respect and appreciation for a heritage that has thrived for generations.
