More about Theresa
Theresa Meuse, from Bear River Mi’kmaw Community, is a Mi’kmaw author, educator, and cultural knowledge sharer dedicated to fostering understanding and reconciliation. Through her work, Theresa develops and delivers educational workshops, crafts culturally enriching resources, and writes stories that bring Mi’kmaw traditions and teachings to audiences of all ages.
As the author of four books: L’nu’k: The People: Mi’kmaw History, Culture and Heritage; The Gathering; Sweet Grass; and The Sharing Circle, Theresa uses storytelling to celebrate and preserve Mi’kmaw culture. Her publications emphasize themes of connection, education, and reflection, serving as valuable tools for cultural learning and awareness.
Theresa’s workshops, including the impactful Blanket Exercise, offer insight into historical and contemporary Indigenous experiences. She collaborates with Mi’kmaw artists, language mentors, and publishers to create educational resources that support language revitalization and cultural preservation. These resources are available through her online shop, Mi’kma’ki Craft Supplies, and at cultural centers such as the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre and Millbrook Cultural Heritage Centre.
Theresa’s work extends beyond crafting and teaching. She is a voice for reconciliation, inspiring dialogue and fostering mutual respect through her dedication to sharing Mi’kmaw culture.
“All of my products and sessions are centered around providing cultural/education to both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.” – Theresa
